Details:
The Tweeks (formerly known as The Gladeyes) are a guitar-driven powerpop band from Dunedin, New Zealand. Their debut album You Can Listen Too is was released in March 2007.
The album was recorded throughout 2006 in the Dunedin National Radio recording studio under the watchful eye of Graeme Downes (The Verlaines), engineered and mixed by Stu Harwood (The Verlaines, RFM, Vibrasics), and mastered by Roger Seibel (Death Cab For Cutie, Cat Power). You Can Listen Too accurately captures the bands tight, punchy pop melodies, and angular guitar work. Their music is heavily influenced by the legendary song writers of their home town, as well as sixties English pop, eighties Manchester bands, and contemporary American and Canadian Indie outfits.
"While there are elements of britpop, and US ''indie'' influences - perhaps motivation for the album being mastered in the US by Roger Seibal - The Tweeks'' impressive bebut effort You Can Listen Too has a distinctly Kiwi flavour." - Joel Halstead, Pulp Magazine Autumn 2007.
