Details:
Blind Dog Otis started as a thought. Then it was a word (logos). Actually, it was first a dog.
There is a dog. He is blind. His name is Otis. His name is an homage to Otis Rush. Not Otis Redding (although he was fantastic) or Otis Campbell (the drunk on the “Andy Griffith Show”).
Blind Dog Otis is the band''s homage to the dog. Through stunning strength, perseverance, intelligence and dignity, he makes his way through life. The band was trying to acknowledge this and also trying to tap into a little of his mojo.
Blind Dog Otis was formed as a result of wanting a clean slate to conceive, write, arrange and perform original music. Flying blind…sorry.
Using personal tastes as a guide, Blind Dog Otis draws on many influences to establish the atmosphere of a performance or when writing. Examples of different artists would include Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, The Police, The Cream, The Beatles, Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac, Howlin’ Wolf, and many others.
Blind Dog Otis is a band that loves blues. While acknowledging the traditional champions of the blues by incorporating these masters’ touches, songs, colors and portraits, Blind Dog Otis welcomes the inherently progressive side of this music. Blind Dog Otis embraces the idea that the blues is the “original alternative” music.
That being said, the eponymous record, Blind Dog Otis, IS NOW AVAILABLE!
