Details:
“I was enlightened, angry, confused, excited and hopeful all at the same time.” -These are the words Buckley uses to describe the emotions that went into his debut CD, Be Your Own. A collection of songs his fan base is calling "empowering", "uplifting", and "redeeming".

Ernest was born and raised in Brooklyn. His music career started when he discovered it at age 4 where he would sit on the Church kneeler staring up into the choir loft watching, listening, dreaming...

At age 10 he was forced to join the choir for his undeniable vocal talent but soon quit realizing it was made up of primarily girls, a decision he would soon re-consider. A year later he was again “forced” to join the choir and decided this time being outnumbered by girls was a good thing!

He made his solo debut seven months after joining the choir when he sang the beautiful but difficult sacred classic the “Ave Maria” by Schubert at age 11 on Mothers Day `84. After realizing the joy his performance gave to his family, he decided music was something he wanted to pursue more fully.

Ernest penned his first song entitled, “Born In Sin” when he was 14. He credits seeing homeless people and prostitutes for the first time while going to HS in NYC for his creative burst and “deep” lyrics at such an early age.

At the age of 16, Ernest started his first position as a Music Director for the Diocese of Brooklyn, a position he would fill for 17 years before moving on. Ernest credits these years for his ever deepening spirituality and for driving his lyrical direction towards self-reliance & empowerment.

Rewinding back to 1991, Ernest graduated La Guardia HS, (aka Performing Arts) and went on to study voice at the Aaron Copland School of Music on the Queens College Campus in Flushing, NY. While in college, Ernest formed his first band, “The Krankers” that he adds, "went nowhere fast". After straying off the academic track for several years, Ernest finally graduated in 1999 to the dismay of the Bursars office.

That same year he opened his studio (The Music Room) and started to produce and engineer for artists from the Rap, Classical, Rock and Singer-Songwriter genres, respectively.

Though Ernest was always writing songs, his style and lyric content focused in the fall of 2001 after the 9.11 events, as well as discovering he and his wife were expecting a child and a life-changing trip to the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and the Havusupai Indian Reservation in Arizona-Utah.

It was immediately after these events that Ernest wrote the majority of the songs that make up Be Your Own.

A CD Release Party is in the works for the summer of 2007 with TRI-STATE Tour Dates to follow.

Ernest is already knee deep in Pre-Production for his follow up CD, The Hundredth Monkey. (Google that term for a sneak peek.)
