WORLD: World Beat, FOLK: Modern Folk

Details:
After a 7 year absence, the former lead vocalist of Zombo Zombo returns with the remarkable new album “Worlds in Transition”, featuring Kevin Breit (Norah Jones, Rosanne Cash), Hugh Marsh (Bruce Cockburn, Loreena McKennitt), Kevin Hearn (Barenaked Ladies), Ian de Souza (Jeff Martin, Jesse Cook), Neil Chapman (Buffy St. Marie, Lee Oskar), vocalist/songwriters Mia Sheard, Kathryn Rose, Lee Whalen and Rachel Smith, plus many other stellar talents. Co-produced by Frank and Rob Greenway (brilliantfish, Priya Thomas) and mixed by producer/engineer Terry Brown (Rush, Blue Rodeo, Cutting Crew), “Worlds in Transition” is a unique and engaging collection of original songs, borne of love, pain and struggle, all held aloft by the infectiously positive spirit of Frank Patrick. Fusing elements of folk, world, rock, blues and even a little ska, “Worlds in Transition” also includes performances by Russ Boswell (David Wilcox, Colm Wilkinson), Ed Hanley (autorickshaw), Mark Mariash (Sarah Slean, Ron Sexsmith), Rakesh Tewari (Madagascar Slim, LAL), Rick Hyslop, Brent Titcomb, and John Jowett.
So who is Frank Patrick? Frank is a songwriter, poet, musician and vocalist who has toured Canada, the US and Europe over the past three and a half decades. He has shared the stage with countless artists including Buffy St. Marie, Cyril Neville (Neville Brothers), Jonathan Best (David Byrne) and Dr. Timothy Leary (!). Frank also toured as part of the music ensemble in choreographer Serge Benathan’s “Sable/Sand” with Dancemakers. As the lead vocalist and primary songwriter of Zombo Zombo, he was instrumental in the band’s album “Into the Market” charting in the US on AAA and college radio, topping at #1 for 2 months on KMUD and affiliates in California. A car accident in 2000 forced Frank to abandon his musical career, spending the next 7 years recovering and also writing the material that would become “Worlds in Transition”. With songs borne out of the pain and struggle of that early period, Frank approached his long time friend and drummer Rob Greenway to help him produce an album of this journey. Working over a 3 year period, it was a journey of discovery for them both, and truly a labour of love.
