Halitosis started out as a concept between two friends some 20 years ago. Chris and Jim met in Jr. High School on Long Island and wanted to start a band. The duo started out making a lot of noise in Chris’ grandmother''s basement. Chris wrote the first riff and the guys called it ”Ber Na” after the way the notes sounded. Over the years the two attended theory and band classes in high school. They eventually started other bands with various other people none of which amounted to anything, and Chris moved out of state. The guys kept in touch and eventually they both settled in the Tampa area. Halitosis was reformed and the guys decided to self produce a record because they could. Now it was Chris’ wife and daughter that had to put up with the noise. “Pain Hurts” was to be the name of the original Halitosis album back when they were kids, so both Chris and Jim agreed to keep it for the first release.
Paint Hurts features: Jim Stiner on Lead and Backup Vocals, Guitar, Harmonica, Trumpet, and Synthesizer: Chris Fanning on, Guitar, Drums, Bass, Synthesizer and Backup Vocals, the album contains 10 original tracks including The O.J. song which was originally recorded by Jim with his previous band Thermal Breakdown which Jim founded with his friend Gabe Mera. The album also has 1 not so original track "Für Elise" which was written by Ludwig van Beethoven but arranged by Halitosis. Pain Hurts was produced with the help of Rod Steinwyle. Rod the unofficial 3rd member of the band has worked with many musicians around the world and his talent and creativity are legendary.
Halitosis will continue to play and write songs that the guys enjoy playing. “We don’t want to be a one trick pony. We play music that we enjoy playing, whether it’s Metal, Blues or Dance Music if I think its funny or sounds cool it will be on the play list.”( Jim-Halitosis)
