Details:
Howard Fix is a singer/songwriter who possesses an aggressive rock voice and a cutting electric guitar style. He has paid his musical dues in the bars of Western Canada combined with the more refined confines of larger urban clubs and halls.
Howard Fix grew up on a farm near the tiny town of Rochester, Alberta where he was exposed to live music at a young age. In the bunkhouse of the family farm Howard listened as black farmhands from nearby Amber Valley drank, smoked and played blues and country music late into the summer nights. By the time he was 12, Howard had guitar in hand and was beginning his foray into exploring the music of Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, Muddy Waters, Alice Cooper, Dire Straits , Pink Floyd and others, eventually culminating into a sound that became his own.
Fix is unapologetic about continuing to reinvent the music of those he was influenced by combined with his original material. His own songs are literate and pointed testaments that reflect the intensity that has always driven rock music. These are songs written by a man who has long struggled with his demons and has documented the journey. Music has been the salvation.
Although he is credited as being a dynamic guitar player and intelligent songwriter, it is Fix’s voice that is as compelling a component to his performance. This is a sound that is true rock; dark, growling, a lions roar. A sound that possesses some of the same qualities that have long been associated with the likes of Tom Waits, Joe Cocker or Bob Seger. A big, gritty wail that hides nothing and reminds the listener what the true sound of rock and roll still is.
