LOW FIDELITY
Why Low Fidelity? Because that really is what it is. It’s a ‘small’ sound, recorded on a no-to-low budget, but in a strange way a far more intimate sound than I’ve found I get from studios I’ve recorded at. I could have done without the hiss of course but that’s another reason why it’s called Low Fidelity. All of the ‘Foden’ sessions were done in a day. Jez had never heard the songs before (apart from Tired Of Waiting & Pea-Not-Pie). I would arrive with an arrangement which we would quickly work on and record and mix down that same day. Sometimes there were two songs recorded that day. This was not ideal of course just the restraints of time and money.
I wanted to get these songs out and get across the point that just because you can’t afford studio time or maybe not afford a portastudio or maybe not have musicians to play with it doesn’t matter as long as you’ve got your songs. Record them into a cassette recorder if you have to. The song is KING.
There are different styles here. Put Waterloo Bridge next to Ma Femme Fatale next to Stranger Blues and so on and you’ll probably agree. But I feel there’s a link holding it all together and I also feel that there are some of my strongest songs here.
Have a listen. I’m really pleased with it. I hope you’ll like it too.

22 compositions which are alternatingly sweet, hopeful, innocent, wonderful, earnest and heartbreaking. The arrangements are clean, crisp and inventive.
Personally it takes me a long way back. It is classic Zabaroff. A romantic to his soul and a rocker to his bones. He has held steadfast to his vision of uniquely accessible music and photogenic lyrics throughout the years. I know, I have been listening.
He is old school, new school, Zabaroff school. Snappy, catchy pop, rock, folk tunes and ballads to break your heart. You have to listen to these songs. They are not background music. This is a cd like records used to be, like songs used to be.
The soundtrack of a life. His. Mine. Maybe yours, too.
