Details:
Modim - We Give Thanks is about the blessings in all our lives. We draw strength from the people around us, and the song choice on this CD reflects songs in honor of our loved ones, our parents, and our faith. The songs are in English, Hebrew, and Yiddish. The titles of the tracks reflect this. "Dodi Li/Erev Shel Shoshanim" is a popular wedding song, meaning "I am my beloved''s/An Evening of Roses." "V''eirastich Li" is a wedding duet emaning "I will betroth thee unto me." "Bei Mir Bist Du Schon" translates as, "To me, you are beautiful," and "Y''verechecha" means "May you be blessed." The other two songs are in honor of parents; "Avi Mori" is "My Father" and "Eishes Chayil" is "Woman of Valor."

Hazzan Alisa Pomerantz-Boro grew up on Mercer Island, Washington, in a rabbinic home, instilled with a love of Judaism and music. From an early age, she knew she would continue the long family line of rabbis, cantors and educators. Following her investiture, she was the Hazzan at Tifereth Israel Synagogue in San Diego, CA for 13 years. She has taken a leadership role by acting as the co-chair of the Western Region and on the National Executive Council of the Cantors Assembly.
