Details:
Ronnie Caywood, raised in Rockdale, Texas, has been singing since his early teens and continued while in College. For many years Ronnie gave up his music to pursue another career, but music was always tugging at his heart. His love of music, along with his talent and fantastic and powerful voice, led Ronnie back into music where he has developed his own unique country style. Joining him now are Joe Blanda on Lead Guitar and Hank Hogg on Bass, who played for Billy Joe Shaver for several years. A lot of Ronnie’s original tunes come straight from the heart thru the lessons that ups and downs of love and life have taught him. Ronnie has unjustly remained one of Country Music‘s secret finds. Although Ronnie remains modest about his music, you can find him performing solo gigs and/or with a band all across Central Texas and the Hill Country, including Gruene, Georgetown, Apache Pass near Rockdale, The Piano Bar Steakhouse in Rockdale; New Braunfels, Comfort, Hondo’s On Main in Fredericksburg, Hills Café (owned by Bob Cole of KVET) in Austin , Salt Lick Bar-B-Q in Driftwood, and the Hilltop Bar and Grille (also known as “Poodies”) in Bee Cave, Texas, the newly renovated Cliff’s Tavern in Rockdale, The Llano Opry in Llano, and Cove Country Opry, as well as many private events and parties. Ronnie has formed a band with other musicians and they have begun playing to a slowly widening circle of fans.
Ronnie has been showcased on various Songwriter Nights in Nashville, including the Bluebird Café, and has performed at the famous Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge. He was recently interviewed on OCRN (Original Country Radio Network) by owner, Larry Simpson, who has been quite instrumental in Ronnie’s re-entry into the music business. Larry has put a tremendous amount of time and effort into promoting Ronnie’s music in the U.S, and abroad. You can hear Ronnie’s music being aired on OCRN each day. Thru Larry, Ronnie met his friend, Mark Trail of Mark Trail Music, who was influential in getting Ronnie out there thru his MTM Compilation CD’s.
Ronnie has shared bills with Country Singers and Grand Ole Opry stars Claude Gray, Jody Miller, Miss Norma Jean, and Mary Lou Turner; also Justin Trevino, and Dickey Overby, former Steel Player for Ronnie Millsap. Ronnie has been interviewed by Bill Gregory and Art Cunningham of KRXT in Rockdale, where the songs from his new CD’s “Bringin’ It Back” and “Santa Isn’t Santa” are constantly being played. Bob Cole has also played some of Ronnie’s music on the Bob and Sammy Show on KVET. You can also hear Ronnie’s songs on OCRN in Ft. Worth, in Europe, Australia and New Zealand, Belgium, Japan, and the UK. He has been on LA Hot Country charts for several months with an original tune and the duet with Pauline Reese, “My Elusive Dreams” that he recorded at Cherry Ridge Studios.
Ronnie participated in a Relay For Life Benefit at Hondo’s On Main in Fredericksburg, Texas in April and has shared the bills at a benefit for Curtis Potter in Bandera with Darrel McCall and Pauline Reese. He continues to play for benefits statewide when the opportunity presents itself.
Ronnie recently made an appearance singing on the Fox Channel early news program, filmed a TV Special with Country Singer Claude Gray at Lonesome Dove Ranch in South Park to be aired in the Spring, and did a 30-minute TV show for EXSE during the SXSW event. A CD entitled “Bringin’ It Back”, recorded at “Razzy’s Hit House” in Nashville by non other than Razzy Bailey, with a portion being recorded at Figment Studios in Austin, features four of his original songs, and several classic cover tunes. Ronnie’s latest album includes a great cover tune written by Wynn Stewart “Sing a Sad Song”, and two original tunes written by Ronnie, and a Christmas song (tribute to Elvis), all recorded by Scott Fischer with Rockdale Sound of Rockdale and mastered by Nick Landis of Terra Nova Digital Audio, Inc. out of Austin, Texas.
He is also featured on Mark Trail’s compilation CD‘s with the first original tune Ronnie wrote, “I’d A Played Here For A Dime”, “Late Night Honky Tonk Country Song”, “She Moves Me” and the duet with Pauline Reese “My Elusive Dreams“, written by Marty Stewart.
Ronnie’s strong vocal abilities and engaging stage presence, along with his distinctive performance style, allow him to entertain audiences with his own original songs as well as cover tunes from such artists as Roy Orbison, Van Morrison, Ray Price, John Hiatt, Marty Robbins, and Delbert McClinton to Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, who have all been a tremendous musical influence. His crowd-pleasing tunes range from Country and Alternative Country to a little Country Rock, Blues and Easy Listening. Comfortable in front of all crowds, large or small, in both public and private settings, he consistently offers excellent entertainment while still remaining true to his Texas Music.
Ronnie is a member of the Austin Songwriters Group, a member of BMI and My Texas Music, and is listed in the Texas Music Directory. He is a member of the Austin Federation of Musicians and an Associate Member of the Academy of Country Music. Ronnie recently won Honorable Mention in two National Songwriting Contests with tunes he wrote himself. He was also featured in Texas Rising Star Magazine, and an article written by Ken Esten Cook in The Rockdale Reporter. There have been various reviews on Ronnie’s music, including one in Canada’s Country Music Magazine, and a Country Music Magazine out of France. When Ronnie is not doing solo gigs you can find him playing gigs with other musicians.
