Details:
IN THE WORLD OF MUSIC THERE HAVE BEEN MANY GOOD BANDS, MORE NOT SO GOOD BANDS AND ONLY A FEW GREAT BANDS. LUCKILY YOU ARE ABOUT TO DISCOVER ONE OF THE FEW.

Tommy Rivers, a native Atlantan grew up in the 1960''s honing his skills as a folk singer and songwriter. After graduating high school, Tommy spent two years in the Coast Guard. After his discharge he moved to Boston at a friends request to join a cover bandcalled ROBO. His four year stint in Boston had him recording and playing many of the songs that wouldmake up later set lists and releases. Labor Day 1976, Tommy returned to Atlanta for a brief visit. He kept running into a local guitar player named Rick Richards. Tommy convinced Rick to quit the top 40 band he was playing in and joined forces to form an originals band. They recruited drummer Freddie Griffin and bassist Shaun Kelley to form the band Desperate Angels. One single was released "Shake You Down / It''s All There". Freddie departed the band soon after and ace drummer Randy DeLay was brought in to fill the drummer"s seat. Another single was recorded "Lost / Running Out". Both singles sold well locally but major lable success eluded the band. After badmanagement deals broke the band apart in 1980, Rick and Randy joined local songwriter/guitarist Dan Baird and they formed the Georgia Satellites. The 1980''s had Tommy finishing his college degree in english and working several jobs just to make ends meet. Although he played several pickup gigs around town, most of the 1980''s were a quiet time musically for Tommy. Fast forward to 1990. The Georgia Satellites have broken up and Rick Richards and Rick Price and drummer Randy DeLay are playing around town in the HellHounds. Tommy would play most nights with them jamming on Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry and many of Tommy''s originals. In 1992, Rick Richards left the HellHounds to join former Guns n Roses guitarist Izzy Stradlin in his new recording and touring band the JuJu Hounds. This meant the the HellHounds needed a guitarist and singer and Tommy was recruited by Rick Price. After Rick Richards returned to the HellHounds, Tommy was kept on until 1995 when the band decided to go back out as the Georgia Satellites. Tommy continued playing locally with such bands as the Untouchables and Michele Malone''s band Drag the River. over the years Tommy and his songs have been featured on several compilation albums but in 2002 Tommy Rivers released his first full length album, Tommy Rivers and The Raw Ramps. With the release of 2005''s Fountain of Youth, we find many of the same people that Tommy has played with over the last 25+ years firmly in place on this album. This is a true testament to Tommy Rivers talent so sit back, buckle up and enjoy the ride.
