MARK BIALCZAK MUSIC CRITIC

(Soft rock) "I''ll Pick Sunset Time" William Aaron, independent recording.

Singer-songwriter William Aaron says he fashioned his 12-disc debut disc "I''ll Pick Sunset Time" to appeal to the adult soft rock crowd. "Music for baby boomers," he calls it.

It''s a home run.

Aaron lived in Manlius for 15 years but now calls Hammondsport home, on the southwest side of Keuka Lake.

Listening to his vocals and music, it''s easy to imagine how pretty sunset time is around those parts.

In the title cut, Aaron muses about the right time to pop the big question to the woman he loves.

"There''s one special time of the day, when you see the best views. I''ll pick sunset time. Wanna make her mine. Sunset time, that''s when my love will shine," Aaron sings.

Aaron''s voice grows on you, sounding more familiar with each play of the disc.

On "Daisy," there''s a feel like the softer side of America, something like "Sister Golden Hair."

On "Electric Touch," there''s a smooth R&B feel, something like Southside Johnny Lyons at his quietest.

But mostly, Aaron sounds like Bruce Blackman, the singer from the group Starbuck, which brought the world the easy-listening sound of the hit "Moonlight Feels Right" in 1976.

Take that and smile, baby boomers.
