Details:
About an hours train ride from London, nestled within the serenity of Berkshire in the English country side, Rej Forte
and his Jah Works Label have been creating killer grooves and spreading positive vibes for a better part of two decades.
"What attracted me to the music early on was the fact that it wasn’t always about baby baby I love you, or baby I’ve lost you. It was about social issues that opened your head up and made you think," say’s Rej about his initial involvement with Reggae and Dub.
Coming from the country however it was not always easy to hear the sounds that had captivated him at the age of 11 when
he first discovered the dub plates in his friends brothers collection. Thus Rej’s real involvement with the music began while attending Arts collage in the 1970’s. While everyone else was listening to Santana, Hendrix and Zeppelin he formed several Reggae bands, starting off on drums before moving to Rhythm Guitar. Whilst struggling to make it as a graphic artist, Rej
continued to nurture his love for the music, forming Reggae bands and doing gigs. One such out fit, Pressure from his own
town of Newbury, recorded a seven inch called " Fool to Yourself " in 1982. This tune, released on Rej’s Macca Imprint, introduced him to the business of music.

Though Pressure eventually broke up, more bands followed and Rej started producing such live acts as the Rythmites from
Bath and Radical Dance Faction ( RDF ), who went on to success in their own right. The Roots Dynamics band, another
group that Rej put together went on to become the revolutionary Dub Warriors, recording for On-U Sound.

Rej started Jah Works as a means of releasing some of the tracks he was making at the time as well as to boost some of the
local talent around him. After meeting Martin Campbell, a fellow Reggae-lover / vocalist, Bus Driver, who had built his home
studio called Channel 1 UK, Rej started cutting tracks, the results of which appeared on the one foundation cassette
compilation. Released in 1989, this album also spun off the successful foundation in Dub LP, which included versions of all
the original compilation tracks, mixed by Rej himself. Since then Rej has released music by Martin Campbell, Donette
Forte and GT Moore ( AKA The Outsider ), putting out one or two releases per year for the last seventeen years. Despite
numerous trails and tribulations with the music, the business, and the people, of his work he says, " to me it’s about the spirit and encouraging what''s good in people". Through Jah Works, Rej has carried on the Roots tradition, producing conscious music
for conscious people.
