Biography:

I was born in Portland Oregon on may 7’th 1990. Throughout my child hood I realized I was commonly misunderstood by everyone. So to make up for my lack of friends my age I began making friends with much older and wiser people . I enjoy spending time having intellectual conversations with strangers and especially the elderly when I ride the MAX Train, where I get the best audience too because they seem to really connect with the roots of the music.
After realizing I was a bit different, my mother began finding ways of stimulating my mind so she got me a tiny plastic toy guitar when I was 1yr. I remember dancing around for hours pushing the same two keys over and over and over again until she got sick of it, and smashed it on the ground. After that I knew she was crazy, but her and I were so alike in so many ways I guess I must be crazy too.
Moving foreword.. the beginning of my musical inspiration was on one of my weekend visits to my fathers house when he popped in a cassette of “greatest hits” consisting of Cash, Dylan, Prine, Taj Mahal, and so on . I usually hated all the music that came from my dads tapes but for some reason when I was just staring blankly out the window I couldn’t help from tapping my foot and humming the chorus with him. I asked him who was on the radio and he said it was a track from Neil Young’s original sets and that his music was one of the things that he and my mother could always agree on. I think it was the fact that I wanted to have something that I could have in common with the both of them that made me want to begin listening to music by my self , just for fun. That summer my family and I were on a camping trip when I went down to the water and met two funny looking sun bathers who were talking amongst each other and laughing at the fact that I, an 11 year old Rambo was flopping about through the reeds with a machete in my hand and a 25 inch bowie across my chest. The older man who introduced himself as Mr. Newman called me over and said he liked crawfish but was too comfortable to get up. He pointed to his friend beside him who was holding a beautiful lap computer and wearing jeans and a button up T- in 90 degree weather and said “my friend Bill here is rich and if you could go in the river and fetch us a bucket of poor boys lobster we’ll give you a buck a piece”, “what do you say?” So I jumped in the river and gathered a 20 or so pound bucket of craw fish but by the time I was finished the both of them were back at there massive travel home singing songs and having a good time with all sorts of instruments so instead of bugging them I just brought my catch back to camp and told my dad of the two strange men. It wasn’t until later when I told my mom about it , she then showed me Randy Newman on line then I realized who the old guy on the beach was. Since then I’ve often thought its rather funny how life can just pass you by -without you knowing it.
Several years later I began getting increasingly interested in what was making the music rather than who was singing So I asked my mom and she said it was an electric guitar and hearing the word electric and thinking of lightning I was immediately interested. She then showed me her 1980ish electric Avila and played me the beginning of one or two of the songs she was writing to her poetry. I had several chances to play around on it but it wasn’t until later when she pulled out her tiny nylon stringed acoustic, it was right then I truly realized that I would one day be a musician. It was exactly as I had heard on the old cassettes. It wasn’t the best but I didn’t know any better and the deep new sound of an acoustic was almost instant inspiration for me. That week I went to my first biker A.B.A.T.E run where I was introduced to a completely different kind of life style. Those rebellious drifters were some of the kindest, most hospitable type of people. I became properly acquainted with a man called guitar bob, and a friend of my dads -the last original of the flying 15 gang, Rocky who until about a year ago still had most of his marbles. When I retuned home that following Monday I remember my mom was on the phone and I was fiddling around on the guitar when I wrote my first actual song in Johnny Cash folk picking style called, “ In the beginning“.
I was severely struggling in school that year and my parents were at wits end at how to make me focus, so on my birthday our friend Martin gave me a real full sized Art and Lutherie. I then began playing guitar for fun. It was as if my creative unconscious like an old wine bottle had become instantaneously uncorked and the music began flowing out as if I had been playing guitar my whole life. Since I discovered my musical talent my entire life changed. I began my high school education where I was treated as a person rather than a number. My grades improved drastically and since then its only been 4 years and I have achieved a 3.0 GPA and have already written ~ 10 songs and over 30 original instrumentals which have been carefully and thoughtfully sifted through to create my first real C.D called Summertime in the city . Music has completely shaped my life. Music has completely changed who I was and who I am today, to make me a better person and has opened my life to so many possibilities. I cant wait…
