Details:
Out Of Nowhere are a Cambridge uk based punk indie newave rock band. The band has been together for about 18 months and all four band members are accomplished musicians. The band members are Phil Parker - Lead vocals & guitar; Nick Grant - Backing vocals & bass guitar; Jez Arnold (aka ''Stranski'') on keyboards and Matt Johnson on drums. The roots of the band were formed in the early 1980’s by two important Cambridge bands, Subculture (who were a street punk band) and featured phil parker on bass and matt johnson on drums...in their time they played with lots of the great 1980''s punk bands including cock sparrer , the business , peter and the test tube babies , the uk subs, blitz , red alert , the addicts... little known to the outside world they were actually managed by alan McGee ..aka creation records / poptones records boss .. their classic street punk single loud and clear scored a top twenty independent chart hit being released on essential records which was the label mcgee owned before getting creation records together and having massive success with the likes of oasis / primal scream / jesus and marychain etc etc .... Subculture split in 1983 due to the increased right wing association with working class https://www.tradebit.com other band being Freedom Faction (who were a popular punk band)and had nick grant playing bass. Probably best not to mention La Voix, the power popsters that had Matt on drums and Stranski on keys. The band members took a sabbatical to do grown up things, like have kids.

Their influences are many, including The Television Personalities and The Clash. They have been striving over recent months to get their presence known on the live music arena in Cambridge. They have successfully put together a monthly punk club, ''Viva La Punk'' at the Cellar Bar 8, Cambridge, the first of which happened on the 19th October. The headliner being Wreckless Eric with Amy Rigby, with Out Of Nowhere on first, along with DJ Les playing classic Punk and Ska numbers. ''The first punk night really set the scene for the future nights, as it helped us realise what we needed to make the night one to remember.'' There have been other awesome punk nights with The Lurkers, Dustins Bar Mitzvah and most recently 999, all getting the Cellar Bar buzzin.

Here''s a review of our gig at Alan McGee''s ''Now I''m off to Rehab'' club in London on 7.10.06, from https://www.tradebit.com: "Next on were pleasantly old-school Out of Nowhere. Though OoN''s vocal and guitar styling was barely discernable to the punk of the 1970s, the seemingly-bizarre addition of a keyboard to the mix turned out to be a boon, lending a rumble and hum to their songs that fit well with the mood. A classic punk sound."
