The Scooterz Bio

The Scooterz set in motion in El Paso, TX in the spring of 2002 when singer/songwriter George McRad and his wife Misty decided to put together a musical project, with just the two Album entitled "Strange As Angels: A Tribute to the Cure". The Scooterz immediately hit the studio with engineer/producer Thomas Lester, who is known for his work on The Ramones album "Adios Amigos", and eagerly recorded their rendition of "Just Like Heaven".

The Scooterz spent the next few years writing and recording new songs, booking independent tours and silk screening their own t-shirts while managing to find jobs between tours to fund the band. The Scooterz have played many well known venues including "The Hard Rock Café", New York''s famous club "CBGB", LA''s "Club Good Hurt", Denver''s "Gothic Theater" and "The Bluebird Theatre" where they opened up for Virgin Records'' "Human League".

In the early 90''s, George played in several punk bands which featured future members of "At the Drive-In" and "The Mars Volta". After attending several of their concerts, George observed the creative musical direction that his friends had moved in and was inspired to write more experimental songs. Winter of 2006, The Scooterz released their long awaited album "Robot Nation" which presented a more experimental side of the band while still keeping to it''s roots. The Scooterz are planning a late summer tour of 2007 and are currently in the studio recording new material for their next album entitled, "Economical Heart".

Corner of Depression Reviews:

UK "Cross Rhythms" Magazine says:

The Scooterz are a two man punk team from Colorado who use a drum machine. But don''t let that put you off. They''ve got a winning way with punk songs with titles like “I Hate My Job” and “Fish Wear Shoes” while their (incredibly programmed) drum machine ‘Alesis’ has band member status. Throughout their music being great fun to listen to. Scooterz sometimes sound unashamedly ‘80s with their choice of keyboard sounds but George Hosni’s songs still manage to fight their way through. For the most part ‘Corner Of Depression’ rocks out like any good punk album should. This engaging indie release could start you off quite nicely.

Boulder Colorado "Boulder Weekley" paper review

Pushing the boundaries of pop and punk, The Scooterz released Corner of Depression, a 14-song testament to teenage blues. Ramones-inspired punk is showcased on high-energy tracks "Beer City" and "I Hate My Job," while Cure-styled pop is featured in the title track, the disc’s standout song. Aggression shines through on tracks like "Time Machine Remote Control."

Strange As Angels: A Tribute To The Cure

5 out of 5 stars This is a great album! I enjoyed every minute of it.

This is a great album! I enjoyed every minute of it. "Jupiter Blue" does an excellent electronic version of "A Forest". The Scooterz version of "Just Like Heaven" is absolutely amazing. It is the best cover of the song I''ve heard since Dinasour Jr. The compilation is a great variety of genres and it keeps getting better everytime I listen to it! If you love the Cure and you''re worried about getting a tribute album that doesn''t do them justice...don''t worry...this album would make Robert Smith proud!
