“When I was a young boy, my uncle was a drummer for various “Big Bands” of that Era.
I used to listen to him practice different rhythms and i could not stop tapping my foot as my body swayed and moved.
Years later, the thought of singing emerged. I pursued that career for a time, but design in my life led me to acting.
But the Joy of singing never left me. While working on “The Young and Restless”, I began performing again. I love singing to a live audience. It is exhilarating, creating through the lyrics
of a song and feel the audience share each moment.
The recording was a remarkable experience. I loved it. I hope it leaves you with perhaps a smile, maybe a tear and most of all, a lasting memory”.

It is not everyday you get to work with an Icon, a household name, a living legend as it were, I also believe, it’s fair to say that working with one does not guarantee success. Especially when heading off in to assumed uncharted waters. The first time I heard Jerry sing I was stunned. Hidden modestly behind a highly successful Television and Film career is one of this generations great voices. There really is no mystery as to the concealment of said talent as we all have set out on one path in life, only
to find ourselves on an entirely different one as life unfolds.
Jerry Douglas was always a singer. That was apparent on the first verse of “Fly me to the Moon”. My job was to make sure that I could assemble a group of musicians worthy of this talent and bring forth faithfully an album of some of the most loved music of our time. As we set out to record this album we explored numerous ways to creatively capture that basic element of all these great songs. Their soul.
Enter Steve Haberman, Jerry’s long time friend, pianist and music director.
Steve is a consummate musician, his piano skills are surpassed only by his gift of arrangement. Steve’s arrangements are extraordinary. Adding to this is guitarist John Thomas, John and I are old friends and he is truly a performer of great virtuosity. Then we added the very cool Mick Linden on upright bass and legendary Frank Wilson on the drums and we set to it.
The recording sessions were truly magical as we were in the capable hands of engineer Stephen Scott, everyone always gave 200 percent. Steve Haberman is simply an amazing pianist and John Thomas was always coming up with something that would knock us out. Frank Wilson laid down a foundation that Mick Linden danced on and many of Jerry’s final takes were the ones that he sang with the band’s sessions, much like the recordings of these great songs the first time they were recorded. Jerry is a consummate professional and delivered take after take. His voice has a sound, that rich, honest baritone that I had not heard in a while and an authenticity that frankly, I feel is required when performing these great works. Working with Jerry has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
