With Blissville DUTCH KILLS perfects their own brand of New York Americana, where synthesizer spars with accordion and Rhodes battles Rickenbacker. With songs about subways that never come, movie dates that never arrive, summer towns in winter, jam sessions in heaven, and quite possibly faked suicides, Blissville is a record of curious ideas and sounds.
DUTCH KILL’s last release, Nothing Was Ever the Same, charted on over a dozen college and freeform radio stations, and resulted in a live performance on Seattle’s KEXP and at CMJ’s Battle of the Boroughs in NYC.
DUTCH KILLS will be touring the East Coast in support of Blissville through the summer of ’07.
"From the first ringing notes, Dutch Kills began weaving a sound that was both huge and yet comforting and intimate, immersing the audience... As the band played on, and their big, haunting music filling the venue, I realized that Dutch Kills had killed any preconceptions I’d had about them." https://www.tradebit.com
“Bores deep into the subconscious, both with its incisive lyrics and loping melodies... constantly inventive” Aiding and Abetting
“..breaks all indie genres. Each dreamy song is an intense lyrical story of love, isolation and heartache.”
Lio Cerezo, Crashin’ in
"a band that should be playing on your stereo--now… it''s a little treasure… fresh and layered, with
a dreamy, Americana feel." Delusions of Adequacy
"Sounds like a late Fall (when the leaves are changing colors) collaboration between
Superchunk and Luna...” Swizzle-Stick
