Details:
The history of the Hypnotix began in the Prague quarter Nusle in the Czech Republic. The two founder members were Michal and Milada Ditrich who played in various Prague bands. Listening to their favourite vinyl records, they agreed on establishing a new project. They were influenced mainly by the jazz saxophone player Jan Garbarek, the drummer Stewart Copeland, the Nigerian orchestra of King Sunny Ade and the John McLauglin´s band Shakti. That was in 1988.

The basic idea of the new project, was a fusion of transformed hypnotic rhythms and patterns with jazz and rock improvisations. The frontmen of the band, were always artists, coming from a country out of the Anglo-American culture. Therefore the sound of the jam session band was extremely interesting. For many years, the dub poet and dancer from Senegal, Bourama Badji, was a partner of the band and they recorded five records together and made several concerts tours throughout whole Europe. They played festivals such as Roskilde in Denmark, Sfinx in Belgium and Summerjam and Chiemsee in Germany.

Since 2001 the band has been cooperating with the Bengali singer Mohsin Mortaba, who has a classical Indian music education. Opposite to former African and dub influences, Mohsin brings melodic oriental lines from the Indian subcontinent. In 2003, after preparation and selection of new material, the Hypnotix come back with the new album „Bagua“. It differs in two basic aspects. When recording CD`s in the past, the band cooperated with producers like Louis Beckett (Asian Dub Foundation, African Headcharge) and later with Kiron J., who is well known in the London technoscene. But for the first time in the band´s history, Hypnotix produced the CD "Bagua" in their own recording studio.
The new album introduces also the voice of MC Strictly Orange, who is a well respected personality of the Czech club scene. He cooperated with plenty of famous DJs and dance groups. In the instrumental parts, the sounds of ethnic instuments are combined with broken beats and other atributes of modern dance music and Strictly Orange´s rap is the balanced counterpart to the Bengali melodies.

The name of the CD „Bagua“ is coming from the Asian philosophy Fengh Shui and symbolises balance among relations, causes and consequences. It should represent the balanced ratio among the three main components of the album: Mohsin´s singing, MC Strictly´s rap and the instrumental arrangement of the Czech music quartet.
