Details:
When I was about two, I found an old ukulele and I think that''s where this madness started. Before long I was begging for piano lessons and after years of my incessant pleading, my mother finally relented. I pursued my classical piano studies for ten years. During that time, I was also singing with church and school choirs, and singing and playing keyboards for a church band. I then decided that I wanted to learn to play guitar, and thanks to a very supportive Nana and Grandpa, I had one in my hands before I was out of high school. Didn''t really know what to do with it, but at least I had it!

I went off to college, determined not to pursue music any longer. It was time I listened to all those voices around me, and outgrow this "phase." But, somehow, I got involved with the music program at my church, this time playing guitar. A few years, a lot of rehearsals and many concerts later, I graduated with a BA in music from UCD, and was starting to sing professionally for Sacramento area classical ensembles. And, at the same time, I decided I was ready to release a CD. After all, I had all of these songs that I had written and I might as well just make a nice little CD. No problem, right!? I had no idea what I was getting into, and had I known, I don''t think I would have ever taken it on!

After finishing Seasons Change, I swore with a vengeance that I''d never embark on another studio project again! Uh uh. No way. That was it for me. But, a year, many gigs and several new songs later, I was back in the studio with a renewed sense of purpose, working on Waiting on the Universe. Don''t know why those involved in the first release were willing to come back for the second (I guess they''re gluttons for punishment!), but fortunately they were. (Thanks, guys!) We got some new musicians involved with the new project, and despite the long hours and power failures and horrible weather and delayed flights and nightmarish technical disasters, we had a great time - and Waiting on the Universe is what we have to show for it. (Take a minute to read about the folks involved, I want you to meet my friends - they''re great musicians and exceptional people!)

And that pretty much brings us to today. Playing live and getting to know my fans is what I''m up to these days. If you''re one of my loyal supporters - thanks so much! I''ve stumbled into this bizarre world because of my love for music, and I''m figuring it out as I go - I simply couldn''t continue without your encouragement, love and prayers. And if you just happened on this site by accident, well, I''m glad you did! Whatever the reason you dropped in - check the gig schedule for upcoming shows, listen to some audio downloads, leave a message in the guestbook, sign up to be on the mailing list, or pick up a CD while you''re here! Stay a while, and come back often.

So, what have I learned from all of this? I''ve learned that I''m motivated by a love for music that draws me back to itself no matter how hard I try to ignore it or run from it. And I''ve learned that it''s a passion that exhilarates and frightens me at the same time. I believe God created me to sing, and as long as he gives me a song and a voice, I''ll continue to do so.

What thoughts do I want to leave you with? The desires of your heart have been placed there with a reason and purpose - relentlessly pursue your passion, whatever it may be! The outcome may be a surprise, but it will never be a regret.

Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for your continued support of independent music!

Warm Regards,
Courtney C. Patty
