My My My is Singer/Songwriter Russell Baylin. He was the lead singer and lyricist of Easy Tiger, a band that had many highs and lows, dissolving and reforming several times during its four years of recording and gigging. All through the band’s tumultuous years, Russell was teaching himself guitar and eventually, and in response to the heartbreak of Easy Tiger’s failure to sustain itself, Russell began working on the songs that would become his first solo album, Theme Songs for Your Melancholy.
From being in a band for years, with the steady working of new material, playing shows, evolving the personnel, etc., to suddenly finding himself on his own having to start from scratch, Russell went through a deep depression, a withdrawal and an exile not entirely self-imposed.
Theme Songs for Your Melancholy is about that time, about finding yourself on the threshold of change. Its about facing down your own limitations, trying to carve out an identity for yourself and yelling back at the cold indifference that life can sometimes lay bare.
