On Wading in the Balance, Ratboy is joined by variety a of former bandmates, and the result is a limber, grooving collection of new songs played with taste and intuitive feel by a bunch of old friends. Ratboy has been called rootsy/surreal pop, modern folk, backwoods groove, and organic rock and roll. They have been compared to a diverse range of artists as well, folks like Neil Young, Beck, Soul Coughing, and Modest Mouse.
Tim met Matt in 1997 in New Paltz, NY when he moved there after finishing a tour with the Ramones. They started playing together in various bands and their success took them all over the northeast. When the two found themselves at a crossroads, Tim took off out west and Matt manned the east. Tim played solo all across the continent from British Columbia to Mexico, even winning the talent show at a Phish Concert in Maine. Matt worked on his ultimate project, Chester''s Gorilla, a Frank Zappa tribute band. The years have rolled on and Ratboy has found themselves with a new album.
