Details:
The Greatest Hits have been around forever. They’re the band everyone remembers and misses. There used to be bands that were recognized for their creativity and intensity as well as their talent and style. These bands were made up of artists with a passion that no on could ignore. As they toured constantly, they stole the hearts of millions and kept the spirit of rock n roll alive. These artists released brilliant LPs like “Appetite for Destruction”, “London Calling”, “Raw Power”, “Rubber Soul”, “Sticky Fingers”, “Ziggy Stardust”, etc. Every song on any of these albums was another person’s #1. These bands are unforgettable and each contributed something unique that was inspiring and exciting.

The Greatest Hits is a dream to follow in the path of these bands. Nowadays, the majority of music we hear is calculated and formulaic. The Greatest Hits are here to break out of the mold by playing a style which is not just aimed at one genre or subculture of people but anyone who enjoys good rock n roll. 30 years ago Johnny Ramone was quoted, “The only people playing rock n roll nowadays are punks.” Nothing has changed. The Greatest Hits are five punk rockers playing songs that come natural. You can call it punk, glam, or rock. They call it “Trash Bin Alley Rock,” a play on “Tin Pan Alley.”

Nils Forever is the singer and songwriter for The Greatest Hits. When he takes the stage eyes focus on his flashy outfits and raw, vulnerable presence. The melodies he sings are filled with the attitude of Axl Rose, the sexual tension of Marc Bolan, the darkness of Alice Cooper and the pop sound of The Beatles and The Beach Boys. He sings poetry filled with metaphors and symbolism. Herb is the lead guitarist. His style is undiscovered, unpredictable, and will make you feel incomplete until you get another dose of his spastic blast. It’s as if Johnny Thunders, Keith Richards, Joe Perry, and Joe Strummer were blended into a hyperactive jolt of self-destructive blues. On rhythm guitar is Whiskey Ginger, a shadow who is discovering his long lost voice. He’s a less precise Johnny Ramone with a 50s rock/country edge. Each strum on his guitar is filled with pain and alcohol stained tears. On bass is the Pittsburgh native Ricky Dynamite who has as much power in his deep voice as he does on bass. His style is bouncy, glam and his attitude is playful and fun. From Germany comes the suave and smooth Roman Deutscher Meister. His beats are from his homeland but also have elements of surf and garage. He plays as loose as he is. When combined these members play sleazy, raw hard rock/punk style songs with catchy hooks and sing-a-long choruses. When seen live, you’ll find the audience dancing to the tunes.

The Greatest Hits records and gigs regularly. In the first year, they have played over 50 shows including opening for The New York Dolls, Faster Pussycat, River City Rebels, Holy Ghost Revival, The Briefs and also did a West Coast tour. They have plans to release a full length CD/LP, do a summer US tour, and in the future tour Germany/Europe. All this and more…to come!!!
