Combining roots-oriented songwriting with a pop sensibility and an outlaw country attitude, Charley has been known to mix many styles of music together into his own. Think acoustic instruments with synthesizers, Johnny Cash meets Wilco, and The Rolling Stones meet Beck.
Recorded in late 2001, the tracks on this album represent the birth of a songwriter just beginning to refine his craft. Most of the songs deal with Charley''s upbringing in the Washington, DC area. Set to the sounds of electric and acoustic guitars, banjo, percussion, and lap steel guitar, the themes of lost love, childhood memories, and a longing for home make up the bulk of the material on this album.
The album was recorded during Christmas 2001 in California at Gadgetbox Studios, and was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Andy Zenczak.
