Guitarist Tracy Story is originally from Atlanta, Georgia. In Atlanta he spent time gigging the city with bands such as The Demagogues, Popular Misconception, The Keep and Space Seed. Now living in the south west of England, Tracy plugs away at his solo material which consists mainly of instrumental guitar music. A keen student of the guitar himself, he also imparts his knowledge to his many students, as he is one of his area''s busiest guitar tutors.
Tracy''s thoughts on writing instrumental guitar music: "I''ve always respected players like Jeff Beck and David Gilmour a great deal. They serve the song. While acrobatics are fine and I aspire to the abilities that some of the players like Steve Vai have achieved, I also focus very much on trying to write riffs that stand on their own, without having to blow you away with technique. I think that instrumental music can be just as infectious as any vocal based music".
As well as writing albums, Tracy also does session work for local studios and artists. He has worked on albums for Rio Records as well as many local artists. He is also currently dabbling in the new trend of online collaboration and long distance session work, so who knows where his playing may turn up next?
Tracy also hopes to realize his dream of getting his music featured in films, television or video games. From Tracy: "One of my friends once said to me that his main memory of me in school years, was coming around to my house to find me playing solos along to commercials and television themes. I''ve always been fascinated with the role of music in these media formats. It''s something I hope to achieve someday".
