Review by Tim Lawhorn, The Top Shelf

I can''t thank you enough for the copy of the "LiS Studio 2005" CD....four cuts stand out immediately. Two of which, I first heard the night I was privileged to record my portion of Lazy White People.

The first, Tell Her is a hauntingly beautiful piece which insists the listener close his or her eyes and surrender to the melody. In doing so, I find myself ‘lost’ in the softness of Kayla’s voice and am left at the song’s conclusion, in want of more.

The second, Change is a beautiful harmonic blend of vocals and lyrics which reach deep inside the listener creating sensations which vacillate between that which makes the body sway and that which is pure mystic and mystery. I love it.

The third Voices had me drumming upon my desk to the beat of the primal rhythms of this a cappella masterpiece.

And of course the fourth, Lazy White People holds an understandable special place in my heart. Thank you for deeming it worthy of inclusion.

Liner Notes from LiS Studio 2005:

What a year! I decided to make a LiS Studio compilation cd because there was so much that happened this year. No albums were completed however a lot went on! 1st things 1st however. Thanks to Beth for her constant inspiration and encouragement. It''s never ending and I love her for it. Thanks to Kayla for inspiration and getting me off my ass to spend time here. Also, for writing with me and allowing me to produce and play on her great songs. Also, thanks to the RFWDG guys. We recorded "Lazy White People". A song Don Pritchard, Tim Lawhorn and I wrote on vacation in Jamaica. (With inspiration from Ward West and a guy named Rudy). And thanks to the Einstein group in the cabin. U know who u are!

Working with Kayla was a great way to start the year. She plays as many instruments as I do and writes great stuff. Her songs are "So Out of Luck", "Tell Her", and "Highstrung". "Tell Her" is one of my favorite songs ever! Its not completed yet. (In fact, several songs are not yet done. They''re just presented as they were at the end of 2005.)
Kayla and I wrote "Change" together. I''m very proud of it and look forward to our next effort. "Lazy White People" written and performed by the RFWDGs. "Voices" is an experimental song. There are no instuments, only my voice and one long ad lib on the lyrics. "Mends" was written but not used for my last album "God & Angst". I decided to record it for my bro and sis in law who it was written about. "Zircon Blue" is about Beth''s new car! "Change ur Past" was written after an enlightening conversation with my sister.
