Details:
In the summer of 2006, a month before leaving for his first year at Oberlin College and Conservatory, Lionel O recorded Brontosaurus Breakfast in his basement. Armed with just a Mac, ProTools, and his bare wits, the album showcases O’s penchant for creating witty, catchy lo-fi guitar pop. When you listen to Brontosaurus Breakfast, you’ll hear traces of Shel Silverstein, Elliott Smith, David Bowie, and The Smashing Pumpkins. While Lionel O’s music deals with some of the same things that a lot of O’s peers deal with – leaving home, isolation, young love and heartbreak – he approaches them with painterly imagery and quirky humor seldom found in today’s pop music. Nothing is taboo in O’s world: Pirates, Telltale hearts (of the Poe variety), Aristotle, Monsters, Mysterious women, Giant robots, Brontosauruses, Peter Pan and the Notorious BIG all make appearances at Brontosaurus Breakfast. O hopes that you will, too.
