Details:
Eric Friedmann and The Lucky Rubes have been together since the summer of 2001, playing Bay Area and Los Angeles venues. Eric has been a fixture in the California music community since the mid-eighties, and in that time has played in countless bands on various instruments up and down the West Coast, the Midwest, and Europe. He has worked extensively as a producer and engineer in various studios, recording numerous local and regional bands, as well as being involved in musical productions for Comedy Central and ABC Television. In 1992 he founded Solana Records, and has recorded and released albums by some of the Bay Area''s most promising talent such as Enda, The ''Wags, and Delectric, who toured Sweden in 2001.
The simple, stripped down sound of the band may remind the listener of the great guitar and vocal-based artists such as Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Elvis Costello, Dave Edmunds, The Plimsouls, Cheap Trick, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, and Nick Lowe. The songs are whimsical in sentiment and delivery, rich in tone and arrangement, evocative and respectful of the most valued traditions of real rock and roll. 2007 has seen the band relocating to the Los Angeles area accompanied by a brand new album, and have played this year at Tangier, 14 Below, The Rhythm Lounge, The Blue Cafe, and The Dragonfly. Upcoming Bay Area shows include the International Pop Overthrow Festival, as well as performances at the Red Devil Lounge and The Hotel Utah Saloon.
The new CD, "Telephone Girl" is available now on Poison Tree Records.
