Details:
Back in 2000 Richard and myself were left with the ruins of a band called "Boa." Matthew (the drummer), had left and moved to London and Carol (the singer), had disappeared off the face of the earth. Boa sounded great and speaking for myself I played some of the best gigs of my life. But it was over.

After a few months of feeling miserable and thinking this was the end of the line for me musically, I bumped into Richard who invited me to put some guitar tracks down. Richard was using his computer to record. Back then this seemed like a complete luxury and further more we were both impressed with our results. We continued putting tracks down and slowly started to build up a healthy catalogue of tracks. The sound was directly influenced from Boa: "groove."

I love the way Richard plays the bass and we had no constraints a band can sometimes have over you. The freedom and self indulgence was something we both got carried away with. By early 2002 we had so much material we thought it would be good to release some sort of album. We picked six of the best tracks and specially wrote Sea Sickness, a track deliberataley uncomfortable to listen to which would weave certain elements of other tracks through it.

With the artwork all done in house, CD''s pressed we went out and sold them locally. They sold very well infact. So well we continued recording. By this point Richard had moved into a flat with his brother Andrew, whose understanding of recording music helped us tenfold. Andrew was so impressed with our results considering the limited computer and tools we had, he actually remixed Spain and No. 10, which appear in the special edition in several guises.

It''s great to see TheLie get a proper release.

As with all things it had to come to an end. Unfortunately most of the files were lost or became corrupt. The computer was on it''s last legs and no back up files were ever made. Some great work was lost but at least some was saved. I am sure this is not the last time Richard and I will work together, but check out his latest project Dice Society.

For me, I have projects and work-in-progress I hope will see some sort of release soon. But for now please enjoy the Lie.
