Details:
The northern Ohio band blends rock and jazz fusion with some blues and funk, leading to a real kick in the pants. Lead singer Liz Washtak''s unique and strong vocals mix well with the talented musicians behind her, treating listeners to an altogether different sound. The band''s members have been playing music for decades in some form or fashion, individually and/or with other groups. Courageous Minority formed in 2002 in Kent, Ohio, while many of the members were going to school at Kent State University. The Kent connection is strong with the band. Lead guitarist Pomeroyal Fountain III and keyboard player Joe Hartsel both attended the KSU School of Music, where Joe graduated in 2004. Drummer Jason Chicatelli and current bass player David Hamilton take classes at KSU, and Liz recently graduated from there with a degree in Education. The "Climb" CD is the band''s first studio production. It was recorded during fall/winter 2004-2005 by David Mayfield (aka BassBoy) at Sargent Studios in rural Portage County, Ohio. The recording studio was destroyed by a flood and BassBoy had to do the final mix down for the CD elsewhere. After many glitches and changes and delays, the band finally got their stuff out to the people. Enjoy.
