The Cool Waters Band began in Appleton, Wisconsin in November of 1993 as a 3-piece basement band consisting of Greg Waters, brother Dan Waters, and Mike Cool. During this time, the three basically "just had fun" writing and rehearsing their own material. However, they soon The three soon realized that their original material was worth bringing out of the basement, so they recruited a drummer and let things take their course.
Nine years and four studio albums later, Cool Waters has emerged as one of the Midwest''s "must see" live acts. They have toured throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Colorado, and Arizona spreading their positive vibe. They have shared the stage with the acts such as Robert Bradley''s Blackwater Surprise, Leftover Salmon, The Nixons, The Guffs, and Blessed Union of Souls. They also have a half a dozen battle-of-the-bands victories under their belt.
The Cool Waters sound has been somewhat difficult to describe over the years. "The one thing we always try to keep is an open mind," says Greg Waters, the band''s chief songwriter. Waters adds, "If it feels right, we give it a chance. I like the fact that we are somewhat unpredictable. It keeps our audiences and ourselves on our toes." Some of artists who have influenced The Cool Waters Band include Dave Matthews, Bob Marley, Blind Melon, The Beatles, and The Black Crowes. The band''s live performances range from tight, high-energy grooves with strong harmonies to electrifying improv jams. Cori McKee, president of Colorado''s Aria Productions describes the band as "a hard working group that sets the stage a-fire with sounds to rock your soul and a presence never to forget."
The Cool Waters Band''s current lineup of over two years is Greg Waters (lead vocals/ guitar), Dan Waters (lead guitar/ vocals), Mike Cool (bass/ vocals), Matt Gieseke (drums), and Shane Hardwicke (keys). The band occasionally travels with a horn section and percussionist. They have just finished their 5th studio album (One More One) and are back to playing live shows.
