Details:
Music is the art form which allows feelings, moods and reflections on the time in which we live, to be converted into sounds. Music has the quality of being able to arouse those feelings and moods within us, to reach our hearts and communicate with our senses. This is a feature of all great art forms, which touch our soul and our senses.

Barbara Dennerlein’s music certainly has these qualities. For more than a quarter of a century, she has been delighting her audiences with new and inspirational endeavours in the field of music. During the past ten years she has been supported and accompanied by the brilliant Daniel Messina on drums - a highly compatible partner in the unfailingly impressive live performances by the duo. The triumphal progress of the Barbara Dennerlein Duo has encompassed not only the whole European continent, but also satisfying enthusiastic audiences all over the world. The great interaction between organist and drummer, full of charm and humour, makes a powerful appeal, even to those in the audiences who are normally somewhat sceptical when it comes to the music form known as “jazz”.

It was more than ten years ago that a young man, who had just arrived from Argentina, saw a performance of Barbara Dennerlein with Friedrich Gulda on television and was so fascinated by the organ player that he simply had to make contact with her. It seems as if both, after seeking the right partner, finally found the perfect match. The result of this encounter, and of ten years of close collaboration, is to be heard on this live concert recording made at the ‘Kunstfabrik Schlot’ in Berlin.

We can listen to the lady who “dances on the bass pedals“, whose playing is almost acrobatic, and we can hear the perfectly co-ordinated interplay of two excellent musicians, the wealth of colours and sounds, and most of all, the excitement and invigoration which communicates itself to the audience when exposed to the ecstatic rapport that exists between the duo. May we experience many more of these magic moments!
