Don Everett Pearce builds his music on the foundations of blues, country, & folk, but he does so with a contemporary urban sensibility and with a natural, weathered voice that is distinctly his own.

This no-frills set of home-recorded songs makes for the kind of intimate listening experience that only a solo acoustic-based recording can deliver. The instrumentation is sparse and uncluttered, yet thick with “vibe.”

Pearce’s songwriting places a strong emphasis on character & setting. Whether the song is set in the California desert (“Looking for Water in Joshua Tree”) or in the crumbled shipyards of Brooklyn, NY (“Hope & Anchor”), the descriptiveness in the lyrics brings it all to life in a way that is almost cinematic.

This EP is not so much the follow-up to Pearce’s debut album Brutish Little Ballet (2002) as it is the quiet prelude to a new album, working title: Last Dive in Town, which is coming right along and will likely see the light of day before the end of 2007.
