Details:
The Project:

CRY OF DAVID was a demo project started by two guys with very diverse backgrounds. It began as a process to simply hear what the music sounded like. It became an end unto itself because the emotional satisfaction of the recording process became inspirational. Jeff Weatherman is the guitarist and songwriter who comes from a deeply religious perspective. George Merriman is the drummer and lyricist who is a scientist and physician by training and a cynic by nature. The music is the common ground found in the synergy generated by bringing together these two worlds. These two Southern boys, who musically "came of age" in the 70''s, have maintained a passionate love of music and musicianship while following other life paths. This full life experience brings a depth and maturity to the music and the lyrics that will move you body and your soul.

"Songs from East Wilderness:"

Jeff and George had met in 1992 because of business relationships and had collaborated musically for some live performances. Their life paths diverged for several years until Jeff''s former band, Under The Son, needed a new drummer to play at the Red River Revel in 2002. This experience reawakened their friendship and collaboration. This energy is expressed as "Songs from East Wilderness."

Each song has a message. Each message is based on real life experiences. The underlying philosophy behind the message and the music is the strongly held belief that there is more to this world than the individual. The philosophy is expressed in overtly Christian themes at times and in purely secular spirituality in others, which reflects the dynamic balance between the two artists.

Quotes from the Artists:

Jeff Weatherman -

"There is a hunger for something bigger than ourselves right now-this music taps into that."

"Good music moves you emotionally--that''s what I go for--some sort of reaction."

George Merriman -

"This is the way I can express what I am really thinking and what I am actually feeling, in the method that I love most - music."

"There is an infinite chasm between being the instrument of God the way one understands him and playing God. The world today seems to want us to forget that."
