THE HAPPENING and how it all happened. Many years ago my dear friend and mentor, Dick Curless, introduced me to Roald Atle Larsen and Roald introduced me to Kjell Birkeland. I had heard from many people that Kjell was a talented musician, but I had no idea how fantastic he was. Kjell had heard my music while I was making guest appearances in Norway and he suggested that we work on an album together with Roald''s help. I was very honored, and we began planning an album of unique sounds.
Kjell and Roald found wonderful musicians from Norway that could play the kind of music we envisioned for the album, and more importantly, they could get to the heart of the music and the sounds that we dreamed of. Thre are not enough words to express what the album means to all of my musical friends who worked on it, especially Kjell. He has produced a work of art that surpasses anything I have done in Nashville, New York, Los Angeles or in Europe. In fact, it surpasses anything I have ever heard in the music business.
The music wraps around you and pulls you into the unique sounds, so you feel like you are sitting right next to the musicians and are a part of the music, the sound and the happening.
For all of this to happen required the help of many and the intercession of one, our Blessed Great God and Savior Jesus Christ. My thanks to Him, and my thanks to you for listening to this album. It is a rare jewel.
BILLY D. HUNTER-ARTIST, INsideOUT
In 1987, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to produce an album with country legend, Dick Curless, at Sigma Studio in my hometown, Bergen, Norway. The session turned out great, and the album, "Welcome To My World" was released in 1987 by Rocade Records.
In 2007 I had another opportunity to work with a great singer, Billy D. Hunter, producing this album, "INsideOUT" at Paradis Studio in Bergen. The connection between that Dick Curless album and this album "INsideOUT" is Roald Atle Larsen, the president of Rocade Records. Roald was a life-long fan of Dick Curless and Dick was Billy''s mentor and friend. Billy has his own unique style with phrasing and musical range that is reminiscent of Dick Curless.
Working with singers like Dick Curless and Billy D. Hunter is a blessing. Very few contemporary male country singers have the rare quality of "soul singing" a ballad, caressing each word and creating a mood which gives each song a heart felt sound which wraps around you. You will experience all of this through Billy''s voice and the great music created by all of the talented artists that contributed to this album.
