It was in 1998 when SONNY RED first saw the day.
After several months spent composing, the group which consisted at that time of 4 members, two of whom Thomas TIBERI (guitar) and Maxime SEGOVIA (bass) are still present, made it their goal to quickly get on the concert scene.
After a few line-up changes concerts followed each other for a year and a half and their style drifted towards Hard Core, whilst simultaneously developing a more rhythmic approach, influenced by groups such as MESHUGGAH or NOSTROMO.
It was only 6 months later in 2001 with the arrival of Pierre-Marie ORSINI on percussion, that the group developed their capacity for compromise between technical prowess and efficiency, thus acquiring a certain maturity in their compositions, blending styles like Power-Metal, Progressive Metal ……
Christophe ABADJIAN aka RedCross 18 months later joined the band and his colourful rich voice (in the style of SOUNDGARDEN, TOOL…..) bringing the group to another level. The group quickly established a new repertoire and were back on stage beginning of 2005. Several concerts later a French label (SBR) gave them the opportunity to record their 1st album, a chance that they jumped at.
They mastered this new challenge with brio, deciding to produce and realise the work themselves. Extent of Soul appeared in the shops 25th May 2005.
Welcomed favourably by the specialised press (Rocksound, Hard ‘n’Heavy, Hard Rock Mag…..) the group was rocketed to the fore at the HELL FEST 2006 in front of 4000 people with their new member Frederic FORMOZA replacing Pierre-Marie on percussion.
October 2006 Jerome POINT(ex E-FORCE, with Eric FORREST from VOIVOD) joined the band as second guitarist, transforming the quartet to quintet and strengthening the concert capacity of the group.
Over the 9 years of existence SONNY RED has remained faithful to their target and are still more than ready to defy new challenges and continue being LIVE !.....
