David Dawson
David Dawson, gifted in the areas of writing, singing, and ministering, has a vision to spread the love of Jesus Christ to a dying world. David seeks to do the will of God and teach Gods'' word to those who have an ear to hear. His desire is to encourage the broken hearted, the people who have been pushed aside and classified as "lost souls" by today''s society.
The second of seven siblings from Evangelist John and Barbara Dawson , David was born on September 28, 1962 in the small city of Clovis New Mexico. Davids'' father was a well-known minister and singer throughout New Mexico and Texas in the late sixties.
While traveling with his dad, David slept in church benches while his dad would preach and sing.
Because of the experiences David had with his dad during travels, and the trust that his parents put in God, he learned to sing and give praises to God at the early age of four. He was called to the ministry at the age of eight. David would be the first to let you know, in the beginning things were not always done with the Lord in mind. Although he has never tasted alcohol, or done illegal drugs, he associated himself with the drug and alcohol crowds. Sometimes he would get involved in mischief created by hanging out with the wrong people, but always remembered what was expected of him by God.
As the years grew on David encountered lots of ups and downs. Travel to other countries, getting invited to a professional baseball camp, coaching little league baseball and football were the ups. Divorce, homelessness, accidents and injuries, disappointments were the downs. Davids spirit was empty and needed to be filled. David realized he had to get to know Jesus for himself and not be a name dropper ("Jesus, you know my parents , so hook me up with heaven"). On a Thursday night in his empty apartment Jesus visited him in a mighty way. God penetrated Davids heart and gave him the blessed assurance that He would never leave him nor forsake him, as long as he kept his mind stayed on Him.
David is blessed with his lovely wife Gerrigay, and seven children: Charmaine, LaShayda, Rashaud, Kellon, John John, DeOndre, and DeWayne. David says, "I truly thank God for Keeping me, so that He can use me anyway He sees fit".
