Ded Center is a Hard Rock band that is just that...a bulls eye hit on what Rock music is
essentially supposed to be...exciting, raw energy encapsulated in true musical sense.
Their latest 6 song EP entitled R U Taken is a musical force captured on disc, a riveting
example of Hard Rock at its best. Sure shot hits that penetrate into the soul of the listener,
with vocals and lyrics that keep you thinking...there''s much more here then meets the eye,
and ear. And best of all... it just plain rocks!
"We knew we had something special the very first time we played together" explains
the group''s drummer Joe Perez, and undoubtedly, the rest of the band agreed.
This was proven soon after...winning a radio promotional contest put on by radio station
WHMP Lazer 99.3, Northampton, MA. The prize was free studio time at The Rock Shop
in Westfield, MA with sound engineer Jeff Gilmer, where some of the areas best bands like
Staind, Splitshift, Thirty Stones and of course Ded Center recorded demos.
There they began recording their first self entitled disc Ded Center, and finished it up at
Blue Wolf Studios in Agawam, MA with engineer Stephan "Doctor Bellows" Billups. After
successfully distributing almost every single unit, they recorded another disc called Final
Task again with Stephan, but this time at his own studio in Springfield, MA. Then, a third
disc called DC3, again at The Rock Shop. All together they distributed 3,000 units in the
Springfield area, building a great local following.
Wanting more, they decided to break into the New York City music scene, playing gigs,
meeting people in the industry and continuing distribution of their discs. There, they hit the
jackpot by hooking up with pro producer Mark Swersky. Mark has written for and
produced artists ranging from, Joe Cocker to Natalie Cole to Hillary Duff to Brilliant Trees
and so on.
They went into the studio at Shorefire Studios in Long Branch, NJ with accomplished
engineer and musician Joey Demaio. He has worked with some of the finest Rock bands
New Jersey has to offer, including Bon Jovi and Skid Row. It''s there in the studio, where
all the hard work done in pre-production paid off. R U Taken was recorded in a heart
pumping six days, mixed, and then mastered by amazing industry mastering artist Leon
Zervos from Sterling Sounds.
As a band they have been through their share of ups and downs, but know that it''s all
worth it. Now, with two songs off of R U Taken already getting airplay, the buzz is growing
fast. Ded Center knows they''re at the point of impact into the mainstream. They are a band
with an exciting new sound which is exactly what the industry has been looking for.
