MP3 Don McIntyre - Love Goes On (but the gloves come off)

Smart, raw classic rock & acoustic blend. Muscular lyrics move from fire to reflection to laugh-outloud weirdness. No glitzy corporate production here - more like a street meeting of on-the-edge visionaries who play crazy good music together

18 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Classic Rock, ROCK: Folk Rock

What do all of the following films have in common?: Pale Rider Casablanca Patch Adams Dead Poets Society Ace Ventura Braveheart Gladiator Shawshank Redemption Dances with wolves Amadeus Breakfast Club Gandhi Mr. Smith Goes to Washington My Cousin Vinny Pleasantville Conspiracy Theory A Few Good Men One Flew Over the Cuckoo''s Nest Dave Cool Hand Luke 1984 Good Morning, Vietnam Hoosiers The Firm Phenomenon Network The Matrix Ferris Beuller - What do they all have in common? They are all wildly successful films about individuals who are willing to face the consequences of not playing the game. They will not play along with a harmful political status quo that is guarded by those in power. - Why do we love such stories so much? Because we all know deep within ourselves that there is something wrong with the religious and political status quo. If we all know it, then why does it remain in all of its manifestations? Answer: as much as we admire these people on the screen, we absolutely refuse to put up with them in real life - when it is *OUR* status quo they threaten. So the world stays troubled even though we all think we want to help it. And it is not just film character heros that we admire in theory and punish in real life. You can also see them in history: Socrates, the Old Testament Prophets, Martin Luther, the French Huguenots, Jackie Robinson, Gandhi, and on and on. The heros usually end up in shame, or worse - leaving a few followers who always move on to establish . . . another STATUS QUO! Sometimes even a violent one. Another machine that needs to consume something to stay alive. We pride ourselves on seeing through rhetoric, unless it happens to be the "spin" of the machine that pays our bills or makes us "feel good about" ourselves. - Have you ever noticed how many such machines pretend to honor the ultimate enemy of politics-as- usual? (That is, Jesus, who observed, "A prophet is not welcome in his own hometown.")
