Details:
A multi-talented and experienced performer, bassist Andre Donowa has played bass, drums, keyboard, trumpet and classical guitar since age 14. However, a turning point in his musical journey, came that same year after discovering incomparable funk bass players like Stanely Clarke, Lou Johnson, Bootsy Collins and Marcus Miller.
Since then he has concentrated on mastering funky grooves and bebop licks on the bass. In 1997 he formalized his training at the Bass Collective in New York, studying under bass virtuoso John Pattitucci. He also attended the 2002 Victor Wooten Bass/ Nature Camp.
Memorable gigs have included playing with major jazz guitarist "Hassan," featuring at the Waterfront café with jazz group August Moon, and opening for the Barbados National Jazz Festival at Heritage Park in 2000.
Andre now passes on his knowledge to a new generation of musicians as Bass Instructor for the NCF Youth Achievement Programme.
He has released a solo album entitled "Dolphin''s Dream" and is currently working on a second album while holding down the groove in the group Jamango.
