Consisting of an array of original Pop-Easy Listening songs, Doug''s debut CD is nothing short of refreshing. Selections like, "You Can Have My Heart" reminicent of some of the more popular ballads of the 1950''s, or "You Can Lean on Me", a ballad with a more contemporary flavor, has "placed Doug on a par with Barry Manilow and Johnny Mathis" many believe.
A premier drummer by the age of five, Doug was introduced as a "special performer" by his older brother''s group "The American Dream" (Producer Freddie Piro''s group before Ambrosia in the early 80''s). By age 13, Doug was singing, and by 17, had formed a Top-40 band with members from the local high schools in Pasadena, California. The group disbanded due to creative differences; however, Doug, then a drummer, self-taught keyboardist and vocalist, forged on.
After graduating from high-school, Doug undertook a two-year associates degree in the arts. He entered the 80''s Hollywood Pop scene, working with such notables as Hense Powell (The famed H.B. Barnum/Johnny Bristol prote''ge), Louis Stone (a collaborator for the group "Animotion"), Louis Johnson (Bassist/vocalist for his family group "The Brothers Johnson"), Joey Guerra (keyboardist/vocalist for the group "Tierra") and several others.
In 1999, after more schooling, Doug created an elaborate business plan for launching a three-album project. He began recording the material for the first of these in his home studio. Now completed, the debut album entitled "In The Meantime" is quickly becoming an item of discussion at many a dinner table!
