His live shows are an eclectic mix of melodic folk/pop originals & cover songs the run the gamut of the acoustic genre. His guitar playing is so full sounding it has people asking where the "other" guitarist is. His voice has been compared to the likes of Keith Urban and Ryan Adams. His name is Doug Edgell.
Many will remember Doug as the guitarist and songwriter for the 90''s group Sleeping Giants. The group toured the eastern United States opening for the likes of The Violent Femmes, Cracker, Everything, Hootie and the Blowfish, and Steppenwolf. They reached a more national audience in 1997 when they won the "Late Night with Conan O''Brien" College Band Search.
As a solo artist Doug has enjoyed much success. He was nominated for Best Solo Guitar Album & Best Solo Guitar Song in the 2004 Just Plain Folks Music Awards. (https://www.tradebit.com) He was also the winner of the Rolling Rock Acoustic Challenge. (Pittsburgh PA 2001)
