Monserrattz, and her sister Veronica, owned and operated the now "fabled" underground club Ünderland Privat. The Club operated for 1 1/2 fantastic years in a huge warehouse near the Miami International Airport.
They succeeded in transforming this 2500 square foot monster of a space with 20'' ceilings into an oasis for LIVE BANDS ranging from local, to national, to international acts travelling to Miami from as far as London, Sweden, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles! They also hosted a weekly Friday night party "Full Force Fridays" with local underground DJs, monthly Alternative Art shows and unique performance art shows with Galerie Macabre of Ft Lauderdale, Fl.
Adapting the space was a daunting project not for the weak-minded. It involved painting every square inch, including the floor, BLACK and the structural wall columns, "revolutions red." No one from the early DPX line-up survived this venture. Everyone baled-out for one stupid reason or another, mostly laziness, lack of vision and lack of plain old resolve! The project distilled the doers from the talkers...
Well, It WAS a huge undertaking involving the installation of a central A/C system, Alarm, Sound System, Stage, Lights, sofas, chairs, tables,Industrial ceiling fans to keep the place cool in the hot Florida Summer months, ceiling extractors for the heat and smoke, deep freezers for ice and alcohol, computers for the member database and on and on and on and on it seemed like it would never end, but they finally opened the doors on Fourth of July weekend 2000!
The CLUB has since morphed into Ünderland Privat Productions hosting/promoting in different venues in the Miami, Florida area. Currently, Monserrattz, her sister, Veronica (DJ NO Fear) and the fantastic DJ Metrok host/promote a night in the jet-set international playground that is South Beach called Electro-a-Go-Go! They play an unpredictable set of retro 80''s, alternative 90''s, industrial dance classix, electroclash and punk!
DPX is an outrageous adventure Monserrattz created after a University of Miami Degree, magna cum laude-Literature/Journalism. She placed her self smack in the middle of persuing the most comlete artform and lifestyle she could find : DPX, including, but not limited to the creation of music, vibe, fashion, visual arts, set design,performance art,intense social life and adaptability.
