Details:
Kevin “KASINO” Wimbley was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas on January 18th. He received his rap name, “KASINO” from a childhood friend who Passed when they were teenagers in 1995. Not certain why his friend choose the nickname, in tribute, he’s always gone by the name Kasino even in his daily dealings.

KASINO has been creating, producing, and writing music since 1987. He first began his music career with an underground rap group called “Varcity” which was founded by the four young men in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The group toured through cities in Arkansas, Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, Indiana and Missouri and had its highest popularity in Chicago, IL. The group was together from 1997-1999 when it was disbanded for artistic differences. The members, KASINO, Andrew “GOINS” Goins, Marlon “Arkansas Bo” Jennings, and Vincent “Komplex” Bifford are still friends today and are thriving in the underground music scene.

After the disbandment of Varcity, KASINO moved to Texas where he became a local favorite at Club Kaos in Austin, Texas. Local appeal got around the city to the CEO of Texas Based Record Label offered him an artist contract; however the contract was unfavorable and he decided against signing with the company. KASINO decided that he would better benefit from a college education so he re-enrolled at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff later that year, leaving Texas and traveling back home to Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

While at UAPB, KASINO joined a student organization called the UAPB Student Investment Club (Urban Financial Services Coalition) whose purpose was to teach urban students about the stock market and investing. In March of 2001 the Investment Club traveled to New York to learn first hand about Wall Street and the stock market. Once in New York KASINO had a chance meeting with a former Def Jam employee who put him in touch with the Vice President of Marketing. He was offered an internship with Def Jam that summer; he began his internship in May 2001.

At Def Jam KASINO learned the ins and outs of artist development, marketing, and other pertinent information involved in marketing an artist. He helped with shows for new artist, A&R, street team field work, touring, etc. After his internship he took everything he learned while at Def Jam to other labels he worked with such as LEG Records (TN) and The New Take Fo’ Records (LA).

He began to record his own music again in 2004 and continues on today with the pending release of his latest album set to release in fall 2007 called “Pocket Khange.” In 2006 he released a mixtape featuring local artist titled, “Season One.” The mix tape sold 3200+ units unofficially.
