1. Secret of Life ~ I wrote this song while performing in Denver, CO. I was feeling down and out and I just started playing. I started to think about how truly fortunate I am. I have been blessed with talent, success and great family and friends. How many people get the chance to pursue their dreams like I am? I was so uplifted by this song that I went back to Phoenix to record it. My wife titled this song, "The Secret of Life": gratitude for that which has been entrusted to us, the celebration of today, and hope for better days to come.

2. Touch ~ I have been surrounded by music and pianos from birth. My grandfather''s collection of pianos filled not just the garage but every empty space available. Although his eccentric hobby didn''t help him learn how to play, his love for music was inspirational to many, including myself at a very young age. This song is dedicated to his memory and the way he touched my life.

3. Better Than Love (Brenda''s song) ~ I have had and continue to have many fans throughout the years, but this one goes out to my biggest fan of all time, my best friend, my wife Brenda. I wouldn''t have been able to do this without her constant love, support and encouragement. Brenda, you are better than love.

4. In Trance-it ~ Originally I wrote this song years ago as a guitar duet with guitarist and friend Daniel Salcedo. Its chords formed from a very crude rendition of a Jimmy Hendricks song. It has evolved into an entrancing melody that captures a bit of the mystery of the Middle East and the feeling of the unknown. Thanks to my very talented friend Thano Sahnas who, in place of the original guitar, plays a traditional Greek instrument called the Bazookie.

5. Springs ~ Smooth or Contemporary Jazz can be so soothing and beautiful. "Springs" is a piece without defined borders. I wrote this one while in one of those moods where the outside world doesn''t seem to exist and I was alone with my thoughts.

6. Innocence ~ I felt this song would be best felt as a solo piano piece, allowing the purity of the piano to paint in our minds with vivid colors the times and moments in life when innocence was cherished.

7. Day Break ~ This one is just fun. When the sun comes up, it''s time to give the world everything you got.

8. Night Out ~ Jazzy and fun, but I''m not quite sure where this one came from. I''ve always been intrigued by the feeling of unrehearsed live Jazz. Before beginning my solo career, I performed with several different blues and jazz influenced bands as an improv soloist. I guess it still runs in my blood.

9. Simunye ~ Pronounced See-Moon-Yeah means, "we are one" in Zulu, a South African language. I spent nearly two years in that beautiful country among its vastly diverse people. I found the same blood of brotherhood that flows through our veins also flows through theirs. This phrase speaks volumes and I hope that each of us will seek its meaning in our own lives.

10. Spanish Dance ~ During my time at the New School for the Arts in Scottsdale, Arizona, I began to develop a real love for Latin and flamenco music. Its passion and rhythms influenced my study of the classical guitar and hand percussion instruments. "Spanish Dance" is a small tribute to this rich heritage of music and culture. This song features the legendary trumpet extraordinaire Jesse McGuire and the amazing talents of Thano Sahnas on classical guitar.

Ali Salcedo ~ Hand Percussion
Nate Stiffler ~ Drums
Eric DePaz ~ Bass
John Rubino ~ Hammond Organ
Terry Willey ~ Color Percussion
Terry Cicone ~ Guitar
Tim Sadow ~ Violin

Special Guests:
Jesses McGuire (Tower of Power, Wynton Marsalis, James Brown) ~ Trumpet
Thano Sahnas (Turning Point, The Sahnas Brothers) ~ Guitar, Bazoukie

ABOUT MATT BACHRACH

Born in Oceanside, California, Matt Bachrach''s love for music began at an early age. Without any formal training, Bachrach found himself drawn to his grandfather''s piano stored in the downstairs garage. By age four he could pick out simple melodies on the keyboard and over the next few years found that playing the piano was becoming second nature. Although no one else in the family displayed any connection with music, Bachrach continued to pursue his interest. By age fifteen he had not only become competent on the piano but had also found a talent for the drums and bass guitar.

Bachrach continued to display tremendous talent and excel in music, but his academic achievements up until high school were far below average. By seventeen he had completely given up on the public school system and dropped out of high school for the second time. During that year he worked hard as a bassist and singer for a local rock band by the name of Legend. Although he was dedicated to the band''s success, it seemed there were other plans in his future.

One day while on a bus ride through Phoenix, a young woman wearing a shirt with the letters "NSA" printed on the front sat by Bachrach and a conversation begun. She was a student of a new local charter school called the New School for the Arts. Bachrach learned that the school was a high school that offered the regular curriculum along with an emphasis on the performing arts. This was just what Bachrach needed to get his first big break. Within two weeks Bachrach was a student of the school majoring in the music theory program and immersing himself deeply into his passion for music.

Half way through his senior year, Bachrach met guitarist Mike Liebbe and violinist Teresa Paul. Both Liebbe and Paul were accomplished musicians with multiple accolades and extensive performance experience, both of which Bachrach lacked. Within weeks Bachrach''s first ensemble, which performed his own original works, was born. Called Paradise Café, after the inspiration of long time friend and mentor Marlene McGoffin, the group took off like a rocket launching from Cape Canaveral. Overnight, Paradise Café, now including drummer Steve Hoffberger, filled every available night of the week with performances ranging from hotels and beautiful resorts to private parties for local artists and celebrities to prestigious events such as the featured entertainment for the National Arts Awards, all this while trying to make the grade and get through high school. However, grades didn''t seem to be a problem anymore. After Bachrach found his niche in music, he found himself at the top of his class.

Because of Bachrach''s genuine love for people and his strong convictions he found himself donating his time in South Africa just following his graduation from NSA. While overseas he continued to write music as well as give service. He began to study the classical guitar and also delve into African and other ethnic percussion. Africa became the roots of Bachrach''s love for world music and influences.

Upon returning to the states, Bachrach sank himself deeply into his music again, writing more than ever before and taking every opportunity to perform as a soloist and with other groups. Bachrach''s music seemed to find deeper meaning after seeing the world from a different perspective. As Bachrach''s music matured so did the recognition of his dream to share his talents and passion with the world.

After swearing off women to focus on his ever-demanding music career, Bachrach met and fell in love with Brenda Blamires from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. They married not long after, and a year and a half later welcomed into the world their son, Brigham Matthew Bachrach.

Bachrach''s career to date has taken him from coast to coast performing both solo piano and with his band of special guest artists. His touring schedule includes over 150 live performances annually and a host of special engagements and events. With a very serious career ahead and plans to eventually tour the world with his music, "Matt Bachrach" is truly a name to remember.

"Bachrach has a powerful style and plays with passion. [He] is off to an impressive start, and I look forward to seeing and hearing what''s next."
