Details:
Emerging from the swirling eclecticism of the Philadelphia music scene, Officer Roseland has been faithfully protecting and serving rock and roll since its formation in 2000 by longtime friends Dan Daidone and Brian Jones. Comprised of Daidone on bass & vocals, Jones on keyboards, and John Ilisco Jr behind the drums, this fearlessly experimental trio is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of rock in bold new directions, drawing upon a variety of musical influences as vast and vibrant as the city that spawned them. Fusing everything from funk, punk, hardcore, electronica, prog-rock, jazz, soul and country with their own uniquely twisted sense of humor, OR has developed an aggressive and original sound sorely lacking in an increasingly generic musical landscape.

That sound garnered positive attention for the band even before they had played a single show. A pair of songs from OR''s self-titled 2002 debut, ''Fiero'' and ''Apple Zip Zaps'', were featured prominently in award-winning animator Billy Blob''s short film Bumble Being, which premiered at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival, and would later be showcased on the Comedy Central series Jump Cuts in 2004. Philly''s top FM rock station, 94.1 WYSP, named OR the ''Local Rockstars of the Month'' for April 2003, and the band was invited into the studio for their first ever live performance, which took place on the air during Tommy Conwell''s acclaimed ''Loud & Local'' program. With the recent addition of Ilisco on drums, the band began to play regularly in and around the city, slowly but surely building a small but loyal following with their innovative and increasingly explosive live performances. Immediately the new lineup went to work on fresh material. Bringing the quirky genre-defying experimentation of their first CD into tighter focus, OR''s 2004 follow-up album, Sunglasses, showcased a leaner and edgier (yet no less progressive) sound that would turn heads once again, this time earning the band some international attention.

The next two years were spent promoting Sunglasses with a string of high-intensity performances at local clubs, colleges, and music conferences, as well as generating substantial digital buzz with frequent rotation on XM Satellite Radio and a number of college and internet radio stations across the country. This double-barreled approach proved effective when visitors to the UK''s Pulse Rated internet station voted OR the #1 unsigned band three out of four months in 2005, prompting an invitation from Pulse to visit their UK studios for a live appearance that summer. The band, now joined by McCafferty on guitar and bass, capped off their overseas visit with a series of well-received shows at local pubs and clubs, winning themselves a broad new international fan base. Pulse gave the boys a further show of confidence by including them in a promotional crossover with Dixon''s, the UK''s leading electronics retailer, whose mp3 players were sold preloaded with the band''s songs.

Returning stateside, Roseland continued to play a wide variety of venues up and down the East Coast, including the famed Trocadero Theater in Philadelphia and NYC''s legendary CBGBs. They also took part in showcases for the Millenium Music Conference and the Independent Music Conference, all while preparing material for their third album, Blast-Off for Kicksville, which was released in early 2007. Delivering a more pop-oriented sound this time around, BOFK shows the band coming into their own as songwriters and musicians, without sacrificing any of the demented playfulness that has become their signature. It is available, along with their other CDs, on the band''s website https://www.tradebit.com, as well as iTunes, Rhapsody, and other leading digital music stores.

Rock and roll is in a state of emergency. In order to survive it must evolve. Officer Roseland is a band on a mission– to rescue rock from the evil clutches of corporate hijackers and the assembly line of soulless mass production. The airwaves have the right to remain silent no longer. Help is on the way!
