Details:
Sri Swami Satchidananda was one of the first Yoga masters to bring the classical Yoga tradition to the West. Affectionately named “The Woodstock Guru” because he officially opened the Woodstock Festival in 1969, he became one of the most respected and beloved Yoga masters of our time. Panicked by the increasingly large crowds gathering for the Woodstock Music Festival, the organizers quickly helicoptered Swami Satchidananda in to deliver a message of peace.

Swami Satchidananda, a disciple of the renowned Guru, Sri Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh, was well-known for his combination of practical wisdom and spiritual insight. He lived a life of service, demonstrating by his own example the means of finding abiding peace. Born to a devout family in South India in 1914, he gave up a personal life for a life dedicated to inner peace and spiritual knowledge. In 1966, he was invited to visit the West, where his deep spiritual realization made a profound and lasting impression.

Avant-garde filmmaker Conrad Rooks (Chappaqua, Herman Hesse’s Siddhartha) first studied Yoga with Swami Satchidananda in Sri Lanka and then flew him to Paris. On the way back to Sri Lanka, he was to make a 2-day stop in New York where pop artist icon Peter Max hosted him. Surrounded by sincere students inspired to follow in his footsteps, Swami Satchidananda was persuaded to extend his visit and with his students, founded the now worldwide Integral Yoga Institutes and Centers. Integral Yoga combines various methods of Yoga that helps one find the peace and joy within.

Sanjay was born in India where he grew up in a very spiritual environment.
Since childhood, he loved to sing kirtan and bhajans. As a chld at school he was always asked to sing for special events. Now inspired by Sri Gurudev Swami Satchidananda, his soulful singing of this devotional music brings us into direct communication with God and open our hearts to receive all the blessings of the Guru. Sumi is a 12-year-old revelation who brings her sweet and pure voice to record with her father, Sanjay, for the very first time.
