This instrumental christian music project has it all!

The smooth and soulful title track An Instrumental Offering, and the gospel jazz arrangement of How Great Thou Art characterize Carolyn’s unique piano style. “It’s safe to say the original compositions, and the arrangement of How great Thou Art definitely reflect my signature playing style.” The background vocals (in 3 of the 4 originals) are skillfully delivered by gifted psalmist, Kassuandra Garner and are a pleasant surprise. The lyrics convey the right “Word”, at the right time, in just enough dosage to inspire and encourage.

You’ll barely notice the musical journey progressing from the “outer court” band sounds to a more intimate worship experience. The praise choruses Blessed Be The Name and Awesome In This Place (Tracks 6 & 7) present relaxing, meditative piano with strings. The intimate piano solo of Oh How I Love Jesus that follows, infuses a touch of the classical idiom with contemporary harmonies.

The last tracks take you “back to where you first believed”. It’s 11 a.m. Sunday morning. Carolyn who began piano lessons at 8 years old, became a full-time church organist at age 13. “ I grew up playing Near The Cross and This Little Light Of Mine on the organ. I included traditional organ tracks as a tribute to my roots, and because so many of us still love ‘old school’ gospel music.”

Her musical influences include childhood piano teacher, Dennis Montgomery, III (currently professor at Berklee Music Conservatory in Boston), Allen & Allen, Ben Tankard, Kirk Whalum & George Duke.

An Instrumental Offering is a collection of inspirational favorites promises to captivate, refresh and lift the spirit of each listener.
