Darnell Hughley grew up with but one primary area of interest. After stating that she recognized in him the God-given call on his life for music as a six-year-old boy, his grandmother sent him weekly to take piano lessons from a family friend. This developed in Darnell a life-long passion for music that would one day become his forte in reaching God’s people with the message of the Gospel as an anointed Minstrel.
By the time he reached high school, Darnell could only marvel at his God-given ability to fluently play several instruments ranging from percussion instruments to woodwinds, horns, and all manners of keyboard instruments. This included being asked to assist an instructor in guitar class after himself having been in the class for only two months.
Having gained experience and some notoriety after being taught by some “giants” in the gospel music arena as well as having worked faithfully in his church as Sunday school teacher and Music Minister, Darnell began to identify fully with the calling on his life to reach God’s people through his music in the form or Worship and Palmistry.
Over the years, his natural passion for pure music in a jazz and classical fashion grew with continued studies; and it has all helped to shape his unique style and approach to provide for the listener a pleasant musical experience.
