Details:
When I was in my 20s, I used to play the coffeehouse circuit in New York City’s Greenwich Village and beyond – the Other End, Top of the Gate, Mills Tavern, the Night Owl, etc.

Then came family - three children - and jobs. So the songwriting and the coffeehouse singing stopped for a while.

In 1997, the Starving Artist was born on City Island, New York. At that time, it was a gallery – a showcase for my handmade jewelry creations and the fine art / fine craft of artisans, many local to City Island and most my friends.

In 2004, the Starving Artist evolved, adding music to the “menu” and becoming a coffeehouse. Life had come full circle. With great support from those three children – Joshua, Jennifer, and Arielle – now plus one – Hannah – and my current wife Monica, brother-in-law “Uncle Bill” Yehle and good friend Marion Rosenfeld, songs were written again. These compositions were no doubt inspired by the many great music-artists who have taken the stage at Starving Artist, and surely by the legends of music that I have loved and listened to – like Bob Dylan, John Lennon, the Beatles and the like.

Eventually, I took the stage once again, at my own café / gallery, in October 2006. I’ve performed at Starving Artist several times more since then, and even done gigs outside that location.

“I’ve Been Told” is my second CD in 2007. Each song has a story. “Blue Tomorrow” is for all the creative people stuck in the work-a-day world! There’s a song to the voices in my head – “!” – and one to the one in my heart – “A Father’s Blues.” Two songs have been featured on Neil Young’s “Living With War” web site since July 2007, remaining always in the top 150 of the more than 2,300 songs – “Baby, This One’s For You” and “Bitter Tears.”

In addition to my family, I am most grateful to all who offer me their love, support and inspiration. Gratefully in my life, that latter list is extensive and growing.
