Details:
It all started in 1997 when worlds and musical styles collided. Classically trained piano player Billy Stover joined forces with Stevie Ray Vaughan-influenced guitarist Roger C. Davis. They wrote some songs and booked a show. In need of a singer, Billy asked Inflatable Soule vocalist Katy Cornell to join them for a show or two. Katy agreed and loved the music so much she became a member of the family. After several personnel changes, the band found a much-needed bassist in local filmmaker Aaron Caine. The band rounded out the line-up with singer-songwriter Jackie Gilroy, formerly of Balls Beverly and Wild About Lather, on back up vocals and rhythm guitar. Finally, Going South completed themselves in 2006 with Doug Marrapodi on drums.

The result: A blend of smooth but powerful tunes. It''s sexy. It''s sultry. It''s a little bit dirty. And it''s guaranteed to seduce you.

In 2000 Going South released their debut CD, "A Bird''s-Eye View of the Isthmus" to rave reviews. Their album combines honest, storytelling lyrics, addicting melodies and solid musicianship. 2002 saw the release of Going South..s long-awaited sophomore outing, ..Hard on Soft Rock... The energy that propelled their debut is married to a more refined production style that lets the individual talents shine but never gets in the way of the songs. Their self-titled third recording by acclaimed producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Mudhoney, Murder City Devils, etc.) blends sexy vocals with groove-oriented beats and never loses sight of its foundation in rock.

Along the way members of Going South have honed their musical and performance skills by playing with other well-known Seattle bands. Billy and Roger performed ..Hell: A Rock & Roll Inferno,.. translated from Dante..s Inferno, with The Government. Billy, Katy, and Roger played ..both kinds of music.. as members of Ford & The F-250s. Doug has played everything from rock musicals in the orchestra pit, to Ska, Fusion, Funk, Native American music and Heavy Metal.

Going South is a very solid group of musicians who play music for the simple reason that it''s what they love to do.
